I love that designers, she designs very beautiful quilts.
I tend to be an indifferent piecer — I can do it fairly well, but I rush and it’s not perfect, and I’m OK with that. As long as you are enjoying the process, I don’t think it really matters how fast you go or how many quilts you actually make.
Cute pattern. I don’t have time to piece anymore. I enjoy the quilting part more! Have fun.
I am a fast piecer and have a ton of tops piled up waiting for quilting. Yes I quilt lots of quilts too but they are for the customers and I hardly ever get to do mine.
I love your pattern. The combo of piecing with applique is my favorite.
I’m a slow piecer too! It takes me forever to finish my own stuff. Beautiful pattern!
I love this pattern and others that The Rabbit Factory puts out, you are not slow as I am always told enjoy your journey it is not how quickly we get to our final destination. How are you going to tackle the applique???? I am using Sharon Schambers newest technique and I love (love) it!
What is Sharons new technique? I have only done one other applique on a quilt and I just turned under the edges, (whatever that is called) and hand stitched the pieces on. Although if I do it that way, I’ll be doing this quilt forever! So, we will see! I would like to get a quilt done so I could quilt something on my longarm! ( I don’t really quilt for customers) I am too busy with kids and working!
What a great pattern! Can’t wait to see it when you are done.
I love this pattern and the fabrics you’re using. Like you, I piece like a snail! LOL. I enjoyed looking through your blog, and I loved the Halloween pictures of your kids!
I too am working on this pattern and have been doing so for the last five years or so. Mind you I have been working on many other things in between. Last January I decided that I would concentrate on piecing the quilt top – every morning I would get up a little earlier and sew for half an hour before going to work. I am always amazed how much I can accomplish in that little bit of time. Besides I am a morning person.
Here’s my dilemma – I have been working on this project for so long that I have misplaced the cutting directions for the border. I have forgotten how wide to cut the border strips and can’t remember the instructions for the triangle border either. Is there any way you can share this information with me?? I would be most appreciative.
BTW I decided to make this a queen size quilt as opposed to the original dimensions. Lots more blocks and more leaves and flowers and birds for the border.
Many thanks,
Edie
Where might I acquire this quilt pattern? I found it advertised in the June 1999 American Patchwork Quilting magazine and want to do it terribly badly – it is delightful! I lo9ve to piece and learn everything new I can get my hands on! Thank you in advance for any information you might provide – Marie Williams elemmar1@comcast.net
Hi Marie! Rabbit Factory puts out the pattern and I just googled it and found various sites that sell the pattern. Just google rabbit factory old fashioned charm.
